Good morning Mumbai!

15 augustus 2019 - Mumbai, India

After the first night, I woke up in a very quiet Mumbai as it was National Independence day. Probably a good reason for the Indies to have a long sleep, because as Neethu (friend of Matthias) explained me, there weren’t so many people on the boulevard as usually on a free day. We chatted on the roof terrace, while watching the city to wake up. Some were beautifully dressed, some had on their motorbike, flags of India, all combined with the stunning view over the sea. And the sea breeze slowly wake me up, what a blessing.

Later that day we went on a small tour, and went to the hanging gardens. So after a small walk on the Marine Drive, were Sinem and I noticed we were observed by the people. A funny feeling. We took the taxi to the stairs that lead to the Hanging Garden, it was a nice climb, with the feeling of walking in a tropical forest. The Garden itself was really more a park, but a bad one, less trees, some plants and just everything looked shabby. From the Hanging Gardens we went into another park which was way beautiful and very clean. After that we just walked around a bit and visit a pond which was a holy one to the Hindi. It looked very dirty, with a dead Chicken in it, still some kids were swimming in it… Welcome to India, welcome to different hygiene standards.
